The British
Olympic Association (B.O.A.) run an Olympic Passport Scheme - which allows
2012 hopefuls access to local sport & leisure facilities. Pulse 8 Health Club and Nirvana Spa have
signed up to this scheme in order to help our athletes achieve their ultimate
aim. The athletes have a choice of
where they would like to train and we should be proud that a number of them
have chosen our amazing facilities.
To date we have
6 athletes signed on to the scheme and they include in their numbers rowers
who won Olympic medals in Beijing last year.
When I showed them around our complex, all of them believed Pulse 8
and Nirvana would enhance their chances in 2012 with our Fitness and
Relaxation offering.
So if you see
people training in the gym like Olympic athletes trying to win a gold medal -
then they probably are!!! Keep an eye
out for them and say hello - they won’t mind - and they usually wear training
tops with the British Olympic Association logo on.. Not many people can say they exercise with Olympic medalists -
but we all can!
Another world
class athlete who is a very regular visitor to the outstanding facilities at
Pulse 8 is Claire Taylor, who enjoys x-biking classes as well as weights and
is well-known to the staff and members at Pulse 8.
Chosen as the
first female cricketer of the year and also named as one of the five Wisden
Cricketers of the Year (one of the oldest and most prestigious awards in
cricket) Claire Taylor is well placed to help raise the profile of women’s
cricket in this country.
